Duror Primary provides pupils from the Duror and Kentallen area with a stimulating and modern learning environment, which is supported by an ethos of encouraging achievement and celebrating success. The School promotes an active partnership between home, school, and the wider community and is supported by an active Parent Council.
Duror Primary was originally built in 1877 and is the most southerly school of the Highland Region. The school building has been modernised and expanded over the years to provide comfortable and up to date educational facilities. The School is situated on the Cuil Bay road at the junction of A828 trunk road. The single track outside the school leads to an attractive bay, which enhances the school curriculum. A wooded area behind the school adds to the attractiveness of the school setting and further promotes outdoor learning.
Duror Primary is a small school with a pupil roll of approximately 10 pupils each year. To support the fluctuating school roll and to provide the children with access to peers and wider educational facilities and experiences, Duror Primary became an Associated School with Ballachulish Primary in January 2020.
The School is under the leadership of Mr William Steven, Class Teacher, Miss Katie Russell, Cluster PT, and Mr Malcolm McGregor, Acting Cluster Head Teacher for the four primary schools in the area: Duror Primary, Ballachulish Primary, Glencoe Primary, and St Brides Primary.
Secondary Schools
There is a choice of secondary schools for children from Duror and Kentallen: Lochaber High School (Fort William), Oban High School, Kinlochleven High School and Ardnamurchan High School (Strontian).
