Invitation to have your say on the proposed Visitor Levy
On 15 November 2024, Highland Council launched a statutory public consultation on a proposed Visitor Levy Scheme for Highland.
This consultation period will run until 7 February 2025.
Should a visitor levy be implemented for Highland, then it will be paid by residents, businesses and others staying in overnight accommodation in Highland. A Highland visitor levy could raise around £10m each year. These monies would be used to sustain, support or develop facilities or services mainly used by visitors for leisure or business purposes, or both. The Highland Council are encouraging residents, businesses, accommodation providers and visitors to have their say by submitting a response to the consultation.
Full information about the consultation, including a Frequently Asked Questions document which is regularly updated, can be found by visiting the Visitor Levy Consultation website at www.highland.gov.uk/visitorlevyconsultation.
The Consultation form can be accessed and completed by visiting www.highland.gov.uk/vlconsultation and public computer access to complete the form is available at any High Life Highland Library. Should you require a paper copy of the consultation documents, these may be obtained by calling the Visitor Levy Consultation Support Line on 01349 781020.
