Let's Get Moving!
There are four grants available to encourage people to make the most of our shared cycle/pedestrian paths in Duror and Kentallen:
- The Sustrans Love Your Network fund, which supports community groups to improve local, traffic-free sections of the National Cycle Network by providing equipment, training and advice. Your Community Council is in the process of applying for a grant for litter-picking and maintenance equipment, and community wildlife identification training.
- Arty folks in the community might me interested in the ArtRoots scheme. Communities can apply for an ArtRoots grant to create art projects on traffic-free sections of the National Cycle Network. Funding of up to £6000 is available to community-led art projects.
- Are there any parents reading this who are fed up of being the Taxi of Mum and Dad? - or do you feel like the current public transport system isn't enough? We may be able to get funding to support more sustainable travel options with a Paths for All grant.
- Finally, if you're contemplating getting an e-bike, but are put off by the cost and upkeep, perhaps you would be interested in the community taking on an e-bike hire scheme? We can get a grant for up to £75,000 from the Energy Saving Trust to support this.
If you're interested in any of the above schemes, or can think of any interesting ideas we could use to apply for these grants, email dkccinfo@gmail.com and the Community Council will get the ball rolling.
