Free Winter Weather Hazards course for community responders and the voluntary sector
The Met Office is expanding its offerings to community responders and the voluntary sector. We are introducing training for individuals engaged in local community work, aimed at increasing resilience to severe weather events. The comprehensive prospectus for the upcoming year is due to be shared shortly.
Currently, we are launching a pilot session for the 'Winter Weather Hazards' course. This program delves into some of the specific weather risks associated with winter, a season known for heightened activity. The session will be led by expert Civil Contingency Advisors to ensure the training aligns seamlessly with user needs. We kindly request participants to provide feedback via a brief questionnaire post-course, contributing to the refinement of our offerings.
The pilot session is scheduled for Monday January 8th 2024, from 6-8 pm, conducted via Microsoft Teams. To ensure effective feedback collection, participation of the pilot is capped at 40 attendees.
To facilitate a smooth confirmation process, please can all interested attendees email grace.mackay@metoffice.gov.uk and copy in kerry.jardine@gov.scot stating they would like to be involved in the pilot VRG training session by Tuesday December 12th 2023. This lead time will allow us to confirm the pilot session with our colleagues, organise joining instructions, and ensure a seamless experience for all participants.
